Barcelona drop points at Espanyol, Atletico draw
Barcelona needed a late header from Gerard Pique, to earn a 1-1 draw at city rivals Espanyol on Sunday.
Gerard Moreno threatened to end the LaLiga leaders’s unbeaten start to the campaign after scoring midway through the second half.
Moreno headed in substitute Sergio Garcia’s cross’ in the driving rain, to give the home side the lead.
However, central defender Pique headed home an 82nd-minute Lionel Messi free kick to stretch the runaway leaders’ unbeaten start to the season to 22 games, the best run in the club’s history.
Atletico Madrid needed a stunning effort from Angel Correa, to beat Valencia 1-0.
The win keeps them in second place, nine points behind Barca.
