Buhari: How FG’ll use 90% funds saved from rice importation


President Muhammadu Buhari has disclose that the Federal Government will make use of the 90 percent money saved as result of the cut down from Rice Importation to improve Agricultural infrastructure in the Country. The President stated this in Jos yesterday, while inaugurating 400 units of tractors procured by the Plateau State Government to increase farm production.

The President added: “The Federal Government has cut down the importation of Rice by 90 percent and the Money saved from this gesture will be used to improve Agricultural infrastructure in the country.” Buhari described the Tractors as of high quality, saying it can last for decades, but failure to maintenance will reduce it durability. He urged the 442 youth farmers’ beneficiaries of the tractors to ensure adequate maintenance. On his part, Governor Simon Lalong, while presenting the tractors for inauguration, said agriculture was one of our five policy thrusts of his administration.

“Our effort to key into agricultural production of the Federal Government; the state government evolved the policy of Tractor Ownership Scheme. It is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme between Plateau State Government, Hakar Engineering Limited and Plateau All Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (PAFMCS).
