One killed, two injured in Edo auto crash

One person was reportedly killed on Monday, while two others were injured in an auto crash in the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the accident occurred in the New Benin area when a truck hit a red Toyota Camry marked, BEN 348 FK, and an Audi car with number plate, RJ 472 AAA, around 1am.

It was learnt that the deceased, a commercial driver, was waiting to pick up passengers when the incident occurred.

A source said, “The truck was coming from the direction of Third Junction and hit the red Camry and the Audi car. The occupants of the Camry sustained injuries, while the driver of the Audi car died.

“The Audi car driver was a cab operator. He was sitting on top of the bonnet of his car when the truck hit his car and threw him to the ground where he died.”

The Edo Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Samuel Olukoya, said the FRSC was not aware of the accident.

But it was learnt that the truck driver had been arrested by the police.

However, the Commissioner of Police Johnson Kokumo, could not be reached on the telephone.
