Day old baby stolen from Kaduna hospital
A day old baby boy was on Wednesday stolen by an unknown woman at Yusuf Dantsoho hospital in Tudun-wada, Kaduna.
The baby NationReformer.com gathered was declared missing shortly after he was delivered by his deaf and dump mother, Salamatu Kabiru who went through cesarean section.
It was also gathered that the baby’s father, Kabiru Abubakar is also deaf and dump.
A source in the hospital told our reporter that the woman who stole the baby had been in the hospital since about 4pm before the delivery of the baby and pretended to be a relative to the woman.
“After the delivery of the baby, she picked up the baby in pretense of showing him to other members of the family outside the ward and that was how she disappeared with the baby,” he said.
The source also said that the same woman had earlier attempted to collect a baby from another woman in the hospital but she resisted her before she succeeded in carrying the new born baby.
A cousin to the baby’s father, Bashir said that the woman who perpetrated the evil act was dressed in hijab. “Both parent of the baby are deaf and dump and this is their second baby. The woman pretended to be a member of the family.
In fact shortly after the birth of the baby, one of the brother to Kabiru, the baby’s father collapsed outside the ward and the woman quickly called the attention of other people to him.
In the process of trying to resuscitate him, the woman gave N1,000 as a donation to help him buy drugs. While all attention was on the young man who collapsed, the woman quickly carried out her plan and ran away with the baby,” he explained.
He however said that the matter has been reported to Ungwar Sanusi police station.
The Kaduna state police spokesperson, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu when contacted confirmed the incident, saying investigation into the matter has commenced.
“The matron of the hospital and father of the baby reported the incident to our area command on Wednesday at about 11pm. We took their statement and the woman who pretended to be the family’s relation is our principal suspect,” he said.
The aggrieved father of the missing baby, NationReformer.com learnt mobilized his fellow disabled people to protest the disappearance of his baby from the hospital.
