Apo six: IGP decorates officer acquitted of killing Igbo traders with rank of Commissioner

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris on Wednesday decorated Ibrahim Danjuma with his new rank of Commissioner of Police (CP).

Danjuma’s decoration was sequel to his acquittal over alleged killing of five traders and a woman in 2005 at Apo, Abuja.

He was decorated alongside 14 others recently promoted to the rank of CP by the Police Service Commission.

Shortly after the decoration ceremony, the IG cautioned police officers to avoid temptation from political actors as the 2019 election drew near.

Felding questions on other general issues affecting the Nigerian Police, the IGP denied allegations of disobedience of court orders over the unsealing of Peace Corps headquarters.

He said the Police have appealed the court order, adding that it had asked the court to stay execution of judgment on the matter.

He also said the Special Anti-Robbery Squad would now focus on violent crimes.

He also distributed cheques to some beneficiaries of the maiden IGP welfare insurance scheme.
