Omeruo hits winner for Kasimpasa


Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo scored his first club goal in five years with the winner for Kasimpasa in their 2-1 win over Konyaspor.

His Nigerian counterpart Emem Eduok scored the opener for Kasimpasa in the 12th minute but Amir Hadziahmetovic levelled scores for Konyaspor in the 56th minute.

Just when it seems both teams are going to settle for a point on loan Chelsea defender Omeruo popped up with the winner for his team in the 90th minute.

The goal was Omeruo’s third career goal with his other goals coming during his time at ADO Den Haag, with one of the goals coming against Groningen while the other was a 1-2 loss to VVV Venlo on the 28th of April 2012, incidentally it was the last time he was on target.

For Eduok, the goal was his third in three straight League games for ‎Kasimpasa, which has seen him equal his last season tally of four goals from 29 games after just 11 games this season.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu has successfully undergone an arthroscopic menisectomy surgery on his right knee.

Agu, a Bursaspor loanee from Porto, sustained the injury while in action for the Turkish Super Lig side and aggravated it during training with the Super Eagles prior to their games against Algeria in a dead rubber World Cup qualifier , and the international friendly against Argentina which he pulled out of from.

“Yes I have gone for the surgery and I hope to start my rehabilitation this week.

Agu also admits that the injury is a setback for him but vows to battle through it to return to reckoning for club and country.

“It going to be Tougher, but I’m hopeful of getting back to the team.”
