Kidnappers kill 3, abduct 10 persons in Niger


Kidnappers at the weekend allegedly killed three persons and kidnapped 10 others along the Kaduna – sarki Pawa road in Munya local government of Niger state.

The Senator representing Niger east,  David Umaru said people around the area alerted him of the development yesterday.

He said kidnappers who were dislodged from the Abuja – Kaduna road have shifted base to Munya area of Niger state and were wrecking havoc in that part of the state.

He said from the information he gathered, the kidnappers attacked about 15 villages situated along the Sarki Pawa – Kaduna road in their wake.

According to him, the armed men invaded the villages, which include Fwapai, Tsoho Kabulo, Shehudna, Bakin Nyanyi, Mudungo, Rigogo, Bakin Dako and Sabo Gida all in Kabila ward of Munya local government area for the past two weeks.

“I have received several calls from villagers in Munya local government about the activities of kidnappers operating without challenge from security agencies. I am informed that about three persons have been killed while 10 other persons have been kidnapped on Friday and Saturday,” he said.

How the commissioner of police,  Mr.  Dibal Yaradi said armed men invaded a village in Munya local government and kidnapped three girls and killed their father who was trying to resist their abduction.

He said one of the girls was released by the abductors and given a number with which the family would contact.

The CP said the command mobilised its men and rescued the other two girls, adding that the girls have been reunited with their family.
