A 50 Year Old Man in the Katsina Allegedly Raped a Seven Year Old Girl

A 50-year-old man, Usman Audu, has been remanded in the Katsina Prison for allegedly raping a seven-year-old daughter of his neighbour

Audu, who resided in Dadin Sauki Village, Baure Local Government Area of Katsina State, was said to have lured the minor into his bedroom and raped her.

The incident, according to the police, happened on December 1, 2017.

Audu was arraigned before a Katsina State Senior Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on a rape charge, which the police said was contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code.

It was learnt that the victim’s father, Yazidu Ibrahim, reported the incident at Baure Divisional Police Headquarters, leading to Audu’s arrest.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, however, told the magistrate that investigation into the case had yet to be concluded.

He pleaded with the court for an adjourned date.

The presiding senior magistrate, Hajiya Adiza  Danja, adjourned the case till January 4 and directed that Audu should be remanded in the prison custody until then.
