Irked by the gruesome murder of about 73 persons in Benue State by suspected herdsmen recently, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, Worldwide wednesday banned the activities of killer herdsmen in the 95 local government areas of the South-east geopolitical zone of the country.

The organisation therefore asked the federal government to without further delay declare herdsmen as terrorists and accordingly proscribe their activities.

In a statement signed by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, President General; Mazi Okwu Nnabuike Secretary General, and Obinna Adibe, National Publicity Secretary, after their meeting in Enugu, the group described as unfortunate the activities of Fulani herdsmen and the Benue massacre.

The Youth Council Worldwide warned that the activities of the herdsmen if unchecked can cause another avoidable tension in the country especially now that the elections of 2019 is around the corner.

“We condemn vehemently the terrorist attack of the Fulani herdsmen and call for self -defence as a measure to halt it.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council worldwide have banned and proscribed the outlawed killer herdsmen in Igboland especially in the 95 local government area of South-east and call on the youths not to take laws into their hands but want the federal government to declare them a terrorist group.

“We hail the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, and the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, for rejecting the cattle colonies in Abia and Anambra States; We know other Igbo governors will follow the footsteps of their colleagues and reject these anti people’s policy.
